IN REMEMBRANCE OF OUR BELOVED PASTOR

Reverend Jean A. Nickson

 Statement from Pastor Nickson

 Mission Point's 100th Year Anniversary
September, 2009

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Corner Stone;
In whom all the building fitly framed together
groweth unto an Holy Temple in the Lord.
Ephesians 2:20-21

When we drive down Virginia Avenue and come to 52nd street, we see a brick building, and we say,
"Hey, there's Mission Point!"
As pastor of Mission Point, I want people to see two or three of our members in Wal-Mart, in Golden Corral, or in our workplaces and schools, and say
"Hey, there's Mission Point!"
because Mission Point is not this building where the congregation is gathered,
Mission Point is the congregation that is gathered in this building.

We are the church in 2009, and we were the church in 1909.
One-hundred years ago, the foundation was laid for Mission Point Missionary Baptist Church.
It was not a foundation of stone, concrete or wood,
but a foundation of people.
One-hundred years later,
that foundation and original building stones of believers
is supporting our present day Church body.
As pastor of Mission Point,
I want to continue to build upon the foundation that was
lain so many years ago by nurturing, teaching, and leading our present congregation,
and also by reaching out into our communtiy,
into our city, our prisons, our streets, and our homes,
changi
ng lives so as to bring in new members,

new "building material" in order that one-hundred years from now,
Mi
ssion Point, the church body,

will be thriving, no matter what type of building they gather in.

.....loose them, and bring them unto Me.

Matthew 21:2

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ALETRYCE ANN HOLMES

Sunrise DECEMBER 1ST, 2003 - Sunset June 12th, 2011

 Heaven Rejoices

Heaven rejoices, though on Earth we may cry.

Our precious one ascended, her soul did not die.
There is grief in our hearts, but much joy to be found,
In each memory of Aletryce that will always be around.

Heaven rejoices, though on Earth we may cry.
Through pain and tears, our God is alive.
We enjoyed the sweet blessing he did create.
A beautiful angel He did make.

Heaven rejoices, though here on Earth we may cry.
Heaven rejoices.
Heaven rejoices.

Love,

                                     But Now I Am Found

"Thank You, Lord!"

"Behold, for peace I had great bitterness:
but Thou hast in love to my soul
delivered it from the pit of corruption:
for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back."
Isaiah 38:17

If your child were kidnapped,
you wouldn't care what he looked like,
how long he'd been gone,
or what had happened to him while he was away from you.
You would just want him back,
to grab him up and hold him forever,
just like he'd never been gone.
That is how God feels about you.
You were kidnapped by
this sinful world when you were born.
You have been through some bad times.
The sinful life that kidnapped you has hurt you,
made you do things you didn't want to do,
but your Father, God, wants His child back, NOW,
no matter what shape you are in.
It is time to come back to God,
who has been waiting with open arms to hold you,
to give you all the love that you deserve.
At Mission Point Missionary Baptist Church,
we want to get you back to your Father.
We were all "kidnapped" by sin,
but now we are back with God,
and it's time for you to come back too.
God is waiting for YOU,
with arms full of love,

                                                                                                      just for YOU!

Psalms 27:4

shall not walk in darkness,
